NEW THIS YEAR - On-site College Application Support!
At this year’s Kern County College Night, we are excited to offer onsite college application support exclusively for high school seniors! If you are a senior who has not yet completed your college applications or would like additional support navigating the application process, this opportunity is for you.
Students will have the opportunity to complete their CSU and/or community college applications during College Night with support from local college representatives who can answer questions and guide students through the application process.
What to Expect:
- Seniors ONLY – This application support is specifically designed for graduating high school seniors.
- Complete Your Application Onsite – Computers will be available for students to work on and submit their CSU or community college applications.
- One-on-One Support – Local college representatives will be available to provide individualized assistance, answer questions, and help students navigate the application process.
- Help Getting Started – Not sure where to begin? Counselors will be available to help students check in, identify the appropriate support, and connect them with a college representative.
- Application Guidance – Students can receive assistance understanding application questions, navigating the application, and completing the appropriate steps.
- Come Prepared – Students are encouraged to bring any information they may need to complete their application, including their email and password, academic information, and other relevant materials.
Information Sessions
Information Sessions at College Night
Information Sessions are designed to give students and families an opportunity to learn more about important college-going topics directly from college representatives and education professionals. Sessions will cover topics such as admissions, financial aid, scholarships, and the college application process. These sessions are a great way to get helpful information, ask questions, and better understand the steps needed to prepare for college.
Additional information:
- Informational sessions will be provided throughout the event and are free for all students and parents
- There are 3 different session times and several informational topics to attend
- Informational sessions will be held at on the top floor which is referred to as the "Lobby Floor"
- There will be counselors available to help answer questions and guide students and families towards the session rooms
Important Things to Consider
Have you thought about:
- What can you afford financially?
- If you want to play a sport in college?
- If you want to live closer or far away from home?
- Things to consider: weather, city, rural, urban
- What you want to study?
- If campus life is important to you
- School spirit, sports school, sororities or fraternities, etc.
- What size school you want to attend?
- What kind of learning environment do you want? ie: research based learning vs. hands-on learning?
